(PT)Depois de mais de uma ano a viajar por Portugal, começando em Lisboa, passando por lugares idílicos em Silves, Leiria e Coimbra, o treehotel, um projecto artístico experimental de arquitectura e design chegou ao fim do seu ciclo.
O projecto foi vencedor do Prémio Larus de Arquitectura 2011, nomeado para o Prémio Outros Mercadus 2010 e seleccionado para o Green Project Awards 2010, o que mostra a qualidade artística, ideológica e arquitectónica do mesmo.
Gostariamos de agradecer a todos os que nos ajudaram neste processo, que são tantos que seria dificil nomear todos. Principalmente aos nossos patrocinadores um GRANDE OBRIGADO!

(ENG)After over one year traveling through Portugal, starting in Lisbon, passing through idyllic places in Silves, Leiria and Coimbra, the treehotel, as an experimental architecture and design project has come to an end.
The project won the Prémio Larus Arquitecturas 2011, was nominated for the Prize Outros Mercadus 2010 and selected for the 2010 Green Project Awards, which shows its artistic, ideological and architecture quality .

Então lá continuavamos nós de férias em casa da minha tia, entre o Santa Cruz, a Baixa e o teatro ''A Escola da Noite'', certo dia estou eu ao computador no facebook, e o meu pai a ler o jornal chega a minha tia e diz: -Vamos dormir uma noite ao Jardim Botânico!- Reacção geral das pessoas que vivem na casa: -Hã?!?! - E a minha tia afirma e explica-nos o plano: Dormir numa mini-casinha de madeira do género campismo, assim no meio da mata sem mais ninguém, pior do que parque de campismo. Eu rapidamente concordei, a seguir dou por mim metida no Botânico a dormir numa casinha muito mini, mas muito divertida tem várias janelas o que permite ter uma vista linda de manhã, à noite e ao fim da tarde, primeiro tivemos um contra-tempo porque a sanita tinha dois botõezinhos o primeiro não sabíamos para que era e o segundo era para o detergente, e aviso já aquilo tem um puxador em baixo onde se puxa e aquilo descarrega. Bem eu aconselho vivamente, porque é muito divertido, belo, acolhedor, no meio da Natureza... Porque é lindo!! Adormecer no meio das árvores com aquele cheirinho a Natureza, e ao contrário do que se pensa não há muitas melgas!! E por cima ainda há uma varandinha, apenas prende-se na cama e sobe-se é fantástico e seguro, e a paisagem sem dúvida fascinante. Ao fim do dia quando lá chegámos, até fomos dar um passeio pela mata e do miradouro, vê-se coisas lindas, toda a paisagem de Coimbra!! Aquilo é fantástico,e a roupa de cama fantástica!! É para repetir!!"

So there we continued our vacation in my aunt's house, between Santa Cruz and the Downtown theater''The School of Night'', one day at the computer, I'm on facebook, and my father read the newspaper my aunt comes and says: "Let's sleep a night in the Botanical Garden! - general reaction of people living in the house:-Huh?!?! - And my aunt says, and explains to us the plan: Sleep in a mini-wooden house gender camping in the woods with no one else, worse than in the campsite. I quickly agreed, then I found myself mixed up and about to sleep in a very mini little house in the Botanical Garden, very funny house with several windows that allows you to have a beautiful view of the morning, afternoon and late afternoon, we first had a counter-time because the toilet had two little buttons. For the first we didn´t knew what it was and the second was the detergent, and notice that it has a handle at the bottom where it pulls and it unloads. Well I strongly advise, because it's fun, beautiful, warm in the middle of Nature ... Because it's beautiful! Fall asleep among the trees with that smell of nature, and contrary to popular belief there are not many mosquitoes! And over there is still a small balcony, just hold down on the bed and climbs up is fantastic and safe, and no doubt fascinating landscape. In the evening when we went for a walk through the forest and the viewpoints, you see beautiful things, the whole landscape of Coimbra! That is fantastic, and the bed is fantastic! It´s to repeat"

Gostaríamos de dar os parabéns à CasaGranturismo pela iniciativa de criar este tipo de eventos para sensibilizar agentes individuais e colectivos sobre a necessidade de reflectir sobre o Turismo e o modo como se faz cidade no Algarve:

"EU:WHOLE é um programa que surge da necessidade de promover uma reflexão contemporânea sobre o Turismo no território do Algarve. Considerando a sobreposição crescente de adventos no território, entre uma ocupação inconstante e a ambição emergente de um turismo natural/rural que se prepara(va) massivo, arquitectos, urbanistas e paisagistas assumem hoje responsabilidades fundacionais na mediação destes conflitos. Contrariando a incapacidade demonstrada durante as últimas cinco décadas em definir estratégias conjuntas, que por escassez de meios e recursos ou ausência da academia promoveram um manancial de respostas e metodologias de intervenção na paisagem caracterizadas pelo improviso e intuição.

O objectivo específico do programa EU:WHOLE, nos diferentes conteúdos e actividades propostas, é o de definir uma pratica de modelos territoriais contemporânea, capaz de promover novos activos (agentes individuais e colectivos) à intervenção e requalificação deste.

O projecto é uma organização da CasaGranturismo com a colaboração da Delegação do Algarve da Secção Regional Sul da Ordem dos Arquitectos. Os conteúdos da programação resultam de parcerias com a Harvard University, Graduate School of Design e plataforma NOGO entre outras.

EU:Whole convida residentes e turistas a assumir a oportunidade de partilhar esta responsabilidade determinante para a construção de uma nova paisagem cultural para o Algarve."

We would like to congratulate the CasaGranturismo for the initiative to create this type of events to mobilize individual and collective agents on the need to reflect on Tourism and urban planning in Algarve:

"EU:WHOLE is a program that arises from the need to promote a contemporary reflection on Tourism in the territory of the Algarve. Given the advent of growing overlap in territory between an occupation and capricious ambition of an emergent massive nature tourism / countryside, architects, planners and landscape architects are responsible in mediating these conflicts. Contrary to the inability demonstrated during the last five decades in defining strategies, which for lack of means and resources or absence of the academy hosted a wealth of responses and intervention methodologies in the landscape characterized by improvisation and intuition.

The specific objective of EU:WHOLE in different contents and activities proposed, is to establish a regional practice of contemporary models, able to promote new assets (individual agents and collective) of the intervention and rehabilitation.

The project is an organization of CasaGranturismo in collaboration with the Delegation of the Algarve Regional Chamber South Chamber of Architects. The contents of the program are the result of partnerships with Harvard University, Graduate School of Design and Nogo platform among others.

EU:Whole invites residents and tourists to take this opportunity to share responsibility for determining the construction of a new cultural landscape for the Algarve. "

"It seemed like a dream! In the evening we still heard the birds singing (should be communicating about the existence of strangers in the Jardim da Estrela!) But then it was total silence till we woke up with the chirping of birds! Of course the sounds in the distance and soft bells of the Basilica of about 8 h!

In addition the exterior and interior design are very interesting, the house is very well insulated (warm!) The bed is extremely comfortable. Also know that we were enjoying it all and with maximum security! "

How it was this unusual night? In fact, the treehotel bed (which unfortunately failed to win the place you dream of, on top of a tree) was so comfortable that there is not much to tell ... Também o Eng. Tiago Oliveira do gabinete de engenharia land2build , que acompanhou desde o inicio o projecto e fez o parecer estrutural do treehotel veio certificar-se da qualidade da construção e de todos os pormenores!

Also, the Eng. Tiago Oliveira from the land2build engineering office, which has been since the beginning with the project, and made the technical feedback, came to be sure of the construction quality, and every single detail!

- 93,75 m2 em placas de OSB (15mm x 1,25m x 2,50m)

(PT) As estatísticas são claras, metade das 6,5 biliões de pessoas que povoam o nosso planeta, vivem em cidades e o crescimento da população urbana está a crescer 1 milhão por semana. Como é possível construir uma cidade de um milhão de habitantes por semana? O TreeHotel questiona os processos universais de criação da cidade e da arquitectura no presente e expõe estas questões perante valores universais da vida humana: felicidade, tolerância, sustentabilidade, obrigando os seus visitantes a reflectirem, livre de constrangimentos (sociais, económicos ou políticos), sobre a evolução da vida urbana para um ambiente natural e ecológico.

O TreeHotel é um projecto experimental de arquitectura e design que aborda temas essenciais para o futuro da nossa sociedade. O tema da cidade sustentável tornou-se tão importante que está presente em todas as disciplinas que intervêm no processo de urbanização (arquitectos; designers; urbanistas; teóricos; sociólogos; paisagistas, biólogos...). Uma cidade sustentável procura desde o inicio uma leitura da pegada ecológica da cidade, no presente e para o futuro, com o objectivo de esta se tornar neutra em todos os pontos: energia, emissões de carbono, comida, tradição, emprego, habitação, movimento, desperdícios, diversidade, natureza...

Em Lisboa existem diversos ambientes naturais que têm sobrevivido a anos de ocupação desorganizada e interesses económicos. Destes todos, o Jardim da Estrela é um espaço que se adequa perfeitamente a este evento, pela escala acolhedora, pela posição central, pelas infraestructuras existentes e por ser um pequeno oásis dentro da cidade de Lisboa. O TreeHotel vai ser construído no Jardim da Estrela e vai servir de “hotel” durante a experimentaDesign2009, entre 09 de Setembro e 08 de Novembro. Porquê uma casa na árvore? Uma casa na árvore é um lugar mágico, um esconderijo romântico dentro da natureza. São micro espaços colocados entre as árvores para brincar, trabalhar, relaxar ou sonhar! Aqui deparamos-nos com memórias, novos pensamentos e, através da nossa imaginação colocamos-nos como observadores, exteriores ao mundo em que vivemos, só assim conseguimos ser criticos e chegar a novos niveis de descoberta e outras plataformas de entendimento.

A inspiração para a construção deste Micro Hotel não é a arquitectura, mas a própria natureza. A escala da Micro-Arquitectura permite-nos ter uma visão experimental do processo criativo, criar e investigar novas formas e funcionalidades que estão relacionadas com este tipo de escala, é uma oportunidade para o desenvolvimento de novos materiais e métodos de pré-fabricação, poupando recursos naturais e financeiros.Para o desenvolvimento deste projecto o estúdio dass juntou-se com biólogos, paisagistas, empresas de construção, indústrias, e sob a alçada da ExperimentaDesign Lisboa 2009 foram delineados objectivos concretos neste projecto inovador:

Fomentar a Sustentabilidade
O projecto demonstra uma preocupação sustentável, não só apenas na sua implementação física, mas nas ideias e pensamentos que poderão estimular e aumentar a atenção das pessoas para valores importantes que poderão inspirar a nossa sociedade no futuro.

Explorar novos caminhos na Arquitectura e Design
Incentivar a procura de novos caminhos no processo criativo e de projecto. Encontrar novas estratégias programais (flexibilidade e multiplicidade de funções), criar arquitectura de qualidade tendo em conta o seu impacto estético (espaço, forma, luz) e o contexto (relação com a envolvente natural ou construída).

Investigar novos Materiais e tecnologias
Desenvolvimento de conceitos tendo em conta a integração de novos materiais, ou materiais sustentáveis, quer seja na estrutura, serviços ou no próprio objecto, em todas as escalas de projecto. Investigação de tecnologias construtivas, processos de funcionamento e manutenção que, sejam simples, de múltiplas aplicações e baratos.

Fomentar a educação e conhecimento
Conseguir uma abordagem original, realista com um grande impacto na cidade de Lisboa e nos seus habitantes para promover a disseminação de conhecimento, e consequente mudança de hábitos ao nível da arquitectura e design, construção sustentável, redução de desperdícios, promover a biodiversidade e protecção da natureza.

Incentivar a Indústria
O TreeHotel é um projecto para ser desenvolvido directamente entre o estúdio dass e a indústria. A criação destas sinergias criativas incentiva a Indústria para um trabalho em conjunto para o seu proveito, de modo a promover a investigação de novas soluções e optimizar processos de produção.

Mais do que criar uma exposição ou um seminário, o TreeHotel dá a oportunidade de se criar algo belo, não apenas no sentido de bonito, mas no sentido de perfeita conjugação entre forma e função, entre o Homem e o seu contexto, enfatizando o carácter efémero da Vida, da Natureza e da Cidade. A simplicidade da ideia de criar uma casa na árvore que se pode alugar e viver torna-se uma mensagem, que no evento efémero da ExperimentaDesign Lisboa 2009 se pode tornar eterna.

(ENG) The statistics are clear, half of the 6.5 billion people that populate our planet, live in cities and the urban population is growing 1 million per week. How can be possible to build a sustainable city of one million people each week? The TreeHotel questions the universal processes of creating architecture and urban environment and setting out these issues to the universal values of human life: happiness, tolerance, sustainability, forcing the visitors to think, free of constraints (social, economic or political) on the evolution of urban life into a natural ecological environment.

The TreeHotel is an experimental project of architecture and design that addresses essential topics to the future of our society. The theme of the sustainable city has become so important that is present in all the disciplines involved in the urbanization process (architects, designers, planners, theorists, sociologists, landscape, biologists ...). A sustainable city seeks from the beginning a reading of the footprint of the city, in the present and the future, in order to make it neutral in all respects: energy, carbon emissions, food, tradition, employment, housing, moving , waste, diversity, nature ...

In Lisbon there are several natural environments which have survived years of occupation and disorganized economic interests. Of all, the Jardim da Estrela is a space that fits perfectly to this event, the cozy scale, the central position, the existing infrastructure and it is like a small oasis within the city of Lisbon. The TreeHotel will be built in the Jardim da Estrela and will serve as a "hotel" during Experimenta Design09, between 09 September and 08 November. Why a tree house?

A tree house is a magical place, a romantic hideaway in the nature. Micro spaces that are placed between the trees to play, work, relax or dream! Here we come with memories, new thoughts and through our imagination we achive to be observers of the world we live in, and be critical that allows us to reach new levels of discovery and understanding.

The inspiration of this Micro hotel is not architecture, but nature itself. The scale of the micro-architecture allows us to have an experimental vision of the creative process, to create and investigate new forms and features that are associated with this type of scale. It is an opportunity for developing new materials and methods of pre-production, saving natural resources. For this project studio dass joined up with biologists, landscape, construction companies, industries, and with the Experimenta Design09 were outlined concrete objectives for this innovative project:

Foment Sustainability
The project demonstrates a sustainable concern, not only just in its physical implementation, but in the ideas and thoughts which may stimulate and increase the attention of people to important values that can inspire our society in future.

Explore new paths in Architecture and Design
Encourage the search for new paths in the creative process and project. Finding new strategies programs (flexibility and range of functions), create architectural quality in view of its aesthetic impact (space, form, light) and context (relationship with the surrounding natural or built).

Investigate new materials and technologies
Development of concept taking into account the integration of new materials, or sustainable materials, either in structure, services, or on the subject, at all scales of project. Investigation of construction technology, operations and maintenance procedures that are simple, cheap and multiple applications.

Promote education and awareness
Creating an original project, realistic, with great impact in the city of Lisbon and its inhabitants in order to promote the dissemination of knowledge, and consequent change of habits in terms of architecture and design, sustainable construction, reducing waste, promote biodiversity and protection of nature.

Encouraging Industry
The TreeHotel is a project to be developed directly with industry. The creation of synergies to encourage industry to work together for your benefit, to promote research into new solutions and optimize production processes.

Rather than creating an exhibition or a seminar, the TreeHotel offers the opportunity to create something beautiful, not only formal but to achieve the perfect combination between form and function, between man and his context, emphasizing the ephemeral character of Life, Nature and the City. The simplicity of the idea of creating a Treehouse that can be rent and lived becomes a message that in the event of the temporary Experimenta Design09 in Lisbon can become eternal.

(PT)O TreeHotel é um projecto experimental de arquitectura e design, que questiona os processos universais de criação da cidade e da arquitectura levando os seus visitantes a reflectirem sobre a evolução da cidade para um ambiente natural e sustentável. O projecto vai ser realizado em Lisboa, no Jardim da Estrela, durante a ExperimentaDesign09, de 09 de Setembro a 08 de Novembro. (PT)O Jardim Guerra Junqueiro, mais conhecido por Jardim da Estrela, é um espaço único
na cidade, pelo conjunto de características que protagoniza. Um dos mais românticos e antigos jardins de Lisboa, com um traçado orgânico de caminhos e canteiros, reúne um riquíssimo conjunto de espécies vegetais num estado maduro. Localiza-se no centro geográfico de bairros tradicionais de Lisboa como a Lapa e Campo de Ourique, tendo frente a um dos portões principais (sul) a Basílica da Estrela. Possui uma esplanada enquadrada por um lago, espaços de recreio infantil, coreto onde regularmente se ouve música e até um miradouro em caracol, com uma vista panorâmica sobre o Jardim.

Contando com um riquíssimo património vegetal, adornado com monumentos e dispondo de diversos equipamentos, o Jardim da Estrela é um espaço imprescindível, muito frequentado quer por utilizadores
habituais quer por aqueles que aí se deslocam para assistir a múltiplos eventos.

O Jardim da Estrela, originalmente “Passeio da Estrela”, foi construído em meados do século XIX por iniciativa do Marquês de Tomar, em terrenos adquiridos pela CML . Foi cenário da evolução gradual dos costumes alfacinhas, das modas das mulheres e dos homens, da transformação de hábitos da nossa gente. Por volta de 1870, a vida no Passeio da Estrela era intensa, pois tornavam-se frequentes as festas de caridade promovidas por senhoras de alta sociedade com as suas quermesses e tômbolas, corridas de velocípedes, fogo de artificio e outras atracções.
O Jardim da Estrela é quase único pelas árvores seculares que possuí, como dragóneas, plátanos e álames e também pela localização de que favorece, visto estar situado num dos pontos mais altos da cidade.
Do conjunto de elementos que embelezam o jardim, como lagos, o coreto, a vegetação, são de destacar os bustos e esculturas nesse espaço colocados:
“Alegoria (escultura em lago)”, estátuas “João de Deus”, “Actor Taborda”, “Antero
de Quental”, “O Cavador”, “Guardadora de Patos” e “Despertar”.

(ENG)The Garden Guerra Junqueiro, better known as the Jardim da Estrela, is an oasis in the city. It is one of the most romantic and ancient gardens of Lisbon, with a trace of organic landscape and paths, brings together a rich set of plant species in a mature state. It is located in the geographic center of traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon, the Lapa and Campo de Ourique, and the main entrance (south) is in front of the Basilica da Estrela. It has a terrace framed by a lake, children's recreational areas, bandstand where music is heard regularly and up to a viewpoint in spiral, with has a wonderfull panoramic view of the Garden.

With a rich heritage plant, adorned with monuments and offering of various facilities, the Garden of the Star is a vital area, much frequented by everyday users or by those who visit to attend multiple events.

The Jardim da Estrela, originally "Passeio da Estrela", was built in the mid-nineteenth century by the Marquês de Tomar, on land purchased by the CML. It witnessed the gradual evolution of alfacinha fashions customs for women and men and as the transformation of habits of our people. Around 1870, life in the Jardim da Estrela was intense, because the people frequented festivals of charity promoted by ladies of high society with its bazaar and raffle, cycles of racing, fireworks and other attractions.

The set of elements that embellish the garden, such as lakes, the bandstand, the vegetation is to highlight the busts and sculptures placed in this space:
"Alegoria" (sculpture in lake), statues "João de Deus", "Actor Taborda", Antero
de Quental ,"O Cavador","Guardador de Patos" and "Despertar".
